RIGID DC Condensing Unit is directly in contact with the user’s evaporator or a cold plate. In fact, with no secondary coolant needed, the system only requires minimal parts. There is no necessary to circulate cool air or to circulate coolant with fans or pumps. Because these additional parts add complexity and inefficiency. The DC condensing unit’s major advantage is to get rid of most ductwork and piping, and their ease of integration into the user’s equipment.
The DC Condensing Unit is also named the direct expansion system. It typically offers the highest heat transfer rates. It is an ultra-compact chiller by assembling with a mini dc compressor. The direct expansion system use R134a or R290 refrigerant. And the mini compressor drives the refrigerant directly through the evaporator, so that the refrigerant absorbs heat directly at the heat source, minimizing the size and component count of the system.
This concept eliminates the need for a water cooling loop (water pump, reservoir, and associated tubing) resulting in a greatly simplified cooling system. RIGID dc condensing unit is the world’s smallest air direct cooling system, and it can integrate directly into a customer’s compact systems and provide very high heat fluxes at the heat source.

RIGID DC Condensing Unit enables the most compactly designed refrigerant system. A direct expansion system eliminates the use of a secondary coolant loop and uses the refrigerant to directly cool the desired payload via a cold plate. In a DX system, the evaporator absorbs heat directly from the payload.
The expansion parts (valve or capillary) control the flow of refrigerant into the evaporator coil. Hot air is extracted from the specific space and blown over the heat exchange coil by the evaporator/indoor fan. The refrigerant in the coil absorbs the heat and expands. This lowers the temperature of the air being blown into the space/room.
In cooling systems, the distribution can be either direct or indirect. If direct, the cooling water goes directly into the internal piping system of a building. In an indirect system, a heat exchanger separates the internal from the external system.
The immediate and most noteworthy difference between these two units is that the DX (direct expansion) unit cools the air, and the chiller units cool water. Chiller units cool water for use in other liquid systems like chilled water handlers.
The expansion valve removes pressure from the liquid refrigerant to allow expansion or change of state from a liquid to a vapor in the evaporator. The high-pressure liquid refrigerant entering the expansion valve is quite warm.
