Stirling technology uses environmentally safe helium as its coolant. It has a linear motor and thermosiphon system that minimizes moving parts and maximizes reliability and working life.

The Stirling cycle is a closed thermodynamic cycle invented in 1816 by a Scottish minister, Robert Stirling.

A Stirling cryocooler utilizes the Stirling cycle to convert electricity into the movement of heat from the cold tip towards the heat rejecter.
